Sport management student and EKU student scholar Marissa Tashenberg

Undergraduate sport management student Marissa Tashenberg has been selected as an EKU Student Scholar for 2013-14. Tashenberg was presented with the award at the EKU Scholar's Assembly, April 18. Her Mom and Dad were on hand for the ceremony.

Tashenberg, a native of Toledo, was a 4-year Colonel volleyball player at EKU where she excelled as an academic student-athlete. She was a 4-year EKU Scholar Athlete and was selected 4 years in a row for the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll. She received the OVC Conference Medal of Honor in 2013 for a perfect 4.0 GPA for the year.

Tashenberg is looking towards a career in academic advising for student-athletes with possibly becoming an athletic director down the road. Marissa proves that athletics and academics can go hand-in-hand.
