Neumann Top Scholar for ESS
Athletic Training major Kelsey Neumann has been named the Department of Exercise and Sport Science Student Scholar of the Year for 2013. Neumann, a native of Winchester, is a junior with a 4.0 GPA. She will graduate in May, 2014 and hopes to pursue a Masters Degree in Athletic Training. Neumann was recently selected by department faculty from a list of students nominated by their advisors. She is active in several EKU organizations including the Student Athletic Training Association, where she serves as secretary and member of the By-Laws Committee. She attended the Kentucky Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Student Leadership Conference and was one a select group of students to represent EKU at the American Heart Association Advocacy Day in Frankfort. Neumann, a soccer player at George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester, is still active and hopes to run a marathon one day. She volunteers at 5K road races and other events where she is able to utilize her athletic training background. Earlier, Neumann was selected as the Department's freshman and sophomore of the year in 2011 and 2012 and was also a recipient of the Charles T. "Turkey" Hughes Scholarship in 2012.
