McAdam Awarded Excellence in Service Award
Dr. Marianne McAdam was awarded the Excellence in Service Award at its annual Honor Awards Day ceremony on May 2, 2014. The award was given in large part for her 25 years of work as the creator, manager, choreographer and dancer in EKU Dance Theatre. Dance Theatre is a twice annual feature production involving 4-5 shows at each of the Spring and Fall concerts. Each concert costs between $7000 and $9000 to produce and all of the funds must be raised as there is no financial support provided by the university.
In addition to the concerts themselves, Dr. McAdam and her troupe conduct lecture-demonstrations in the schools in the EKU service region. She also brings in guest artists to teach workshops and to choreograph dance pieces. Dance Theatre is in great demand at city and regional events. Dr. McAdam herself has travelled as far as Japan to bring the joy of dance to that culture.
The Department of Exercise and Sport Science congratulates Dr. Marianne McAdam on the 2014 Excellence in Service Award.
