Ferguson Receives Mustain Award from KAHPERD

Associate Professor John Ferguson of the Departments of Exercise and Sport Science and Curriculum and Instruction received the 2012 Walter H. Mustain Award. He personally received the award from the Kentucky Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance at its annual convention November 13, 2012. The Mustain is the highest honor bestowed by KAHPERD.

Ferguson has been a member of the KAHPERD Board of Directors for many years and served as the Association’s President in 2006-07. He has also been a frequent presenter at the convention and twice a year writes a feature column in the KAHPERD Journal.

At EKU, Dr. Ferguson teaches several courses in the P-12 Physical Education Teacher program and supervises student teachers as they prepare to enter the teaching profession. He advises all physical education majors in the program.

Before teaching, Ferguson was a basketball coach at the collegiate level, including 13 years as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Eastern.
