ESS Students Honored at Department Awards Day
Senior Katie Atkinson was one of nine students and one alumnus who received awards at the Department of Exercise and Sport Science Honor Awards Day ceremony on May 13 at EKU. Atkinson, a native of Westchester, Ohio and a Physical Fitness and Wellness Management major, also garnered the Service Merit Award for her extensive list of service activities at EKU.
Jacob Waldecker, a major in Athletic Training from Brandenburg, KY, also received two awards: Outstanding Junior and the Fred Darling Physical Education Leadership Scholarship. Owen Peterson from Versailles, KY, an Athletic Training major, received both the Outstanding Sophomore award and the Charles T. "Turkey" Hughes Scholarship for academic proficiency, leadership and service. Tricia Brooks, a senior Sport Management major from Lexington, received the Leadership Merit Award for her work with the Sport Management Club and was also selected as co-recipient of the SHAPE America Major of the Year along with senior Kelcie Fish from Pleasureville, KY.
