American Heart Association group from Kentucky meets with federal legislators.
Dr. John Ferguson and EKU teacher education majors in P-12 Physical Education & Health participated in the American Heart Advocacy Day at the State Capitol, Frankfort, Ky on February 14, 2018. Accompanying Dr. Ferguson were Megan Ross & Samuel Pensol. While at the State Capitol the students were briefed by representatives from the American Heart Association regarding certain bills from the Senate and the House of Representatives which will have a direct impact on the health of Kentuckians. Dr. Ferguson and the students then had scheduled meetings with elected officials from the Senate and the House of Representatives to discuss the upcoming legislation and promote the passing of the bills when voted upon. This experience proved to be an invaluable experience for these Eastern Kentucky University students.
