Ferguson Awarded Excellence in Teaching Award

Dr. John Ferguson was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award at its annual Honor Awards Day ceremony on May 2, 2014. Dr. Ferguson is the teacher and main advisor in the P-12 Teacher Education program and has been so for many years. He is a proponent of experiential learning and has taken his students to RedBird School in rural Kentucky where they taught physical education for a day. He takes students to Frankfort each year to lobby state legislators for more physical education. He supervises student teachers during the Fall and Spring semesters.

Dr. Ferguson is always trying to learn new and better teaching methods and techniques. He makes a point to attend the Lilly Conference on Teaching each year. His teaching evaluations are consistently high.
